Dear Friends,

The Louisiana State Exhibit Museum is many things: an architectural gem; a repository of world-renowned, unique, and priceless dioramas; and a jewel of Louisiana culture located in Shreveport. The LSEM is also a member of the Smithsonian Institution Affiliations Program--the only public museum in Louisiana to gain this prestigious designation.

 
Our biennial fundraiser--Glitz & Grits--will be held on Friday, September 23, 2011. Glitz & Grits is presented by the Friends of the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum, and is the Museum's only fundraiser. The theme for Glitz & Grits 2011 is
 
                                                              RODRIGUE and RUSSIA ON THE RED
 
In addition to an evening of great food, entertainment, and live and silent auctions, attendees will experience the preview opening of the Museum's Fall 2011 exhibit--Russia on the Red: Fabulous Faberge.
Plans are in the works for stellar festivities on Friday, Sept. 23, 2011. G&G 2011 will feature
 
Carl Faberge was a superb artisan whose creations influenced and changed the world. Exquisitely executed in gold and silver, enamel and jewels, his works captured the luxury and elegance of his time, and reflected the opulence of Tsarist Russia. They were the gifts of and for kings and emperors--designs desired by all who viewed them
 
The Friends of the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum will present a beautiful collection, recreated in Louisiana, of decorative eggs, evening bags, picture frames, and desk accessories. Enjoy the majesty of royalty--shown for your pleasure as part of Russia on the Red.
